Sussex Spaniels are one of the AKC\'s oldest breeds, but one of the rarest. Now Sussex Spaniels are making a comeback with bird hunters and companion dog lovers. Sussex Spaniels are entertaining and enjoyable. They are real \'peolple dogs\' and do not enjoy being left alone for long periods. They can be stubborn and territorial, so we encourage new Sussex owners to take their pups to Puppy Kindergarten and maintain lots of socialization throughout their lives. They need very little grooming compared to most spaniel breeds, but regular nail trimming and brushing the coat is absolutely necessary.
